Recently, I had the opportunity to speak on More FM Rodney about MoodSpace and the vision behind the app.
As a parent and early childhood educator, I have seen firsthand how important emotional connection is for children and families. Life is busy, and sometimes children find it difficult to explain how they are feeling. MoodSpace was created to help make those conversations easier.
MoodSpace is designed as a simple connection tool that encourages children to check in with their emotions each day. Through an easy-to-use mood selection process, children can share how they are feeling, while parents receive valuable insights that can help start meaningful conversations at home. The goal is not to replace communication, but to strengthen it.
By creating a regular habit of checking in, families can build stronger emotional awareness and create opportunities to talk about feelings before small concerns become bigger challenges.
During my interview on More FM Rodney, I spoke about the importance of helping children feel heard, understood, and supported. Many children struggle to find the words to express their emotions. MoodSpace provides a gentle and engaging way for them to communicate how they are feeling.

The app has been designed with simplicity in mind. Children can quickly record their mood, while parents can stay informed and connected to their child's emotional wellbeing. Over time, this can help families recognise patterns, celebrate positive moments, and provide support when needed.
MoodSpace is built around the belief that strong relationships start with communication. Whether a child is having a great day, feeling worried, excited, frustrated, or simply needs someone to talk to, the app creates another pathway for connection between children and the important adults in their lives.
Looking ahead, the vision for MoodSpace is to continue developing features that support families, encourage positive wellbeing habits, and strengthen connections between children, parents, caregivers, and potentially teachers and wider support networks.
The response from the Rodney community has been incredibly encouraging, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share the MoodSpace journey on More FM Rodney.
At its heart, MoodSpace is about one simple idea: helping children feel connected, supported, and understood every day.
